Dr. Hunter was also a senior lecturer for twenty years at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he lectured and consulted on HRM, carried out related research and incorporated my findings into his teaching and writing. He authored the textbook, Managing People in South Africa, which is based on the application of problem solving principles to HRM. Also relevant to problem solving during this period was his experience facilitating the unification of a number of racially divided chambers of commerce into the non-racial Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business.
Dr. Hunter’s involvement and interest in problem solving skills started early in his career when he learned to run Training Within Industry (TWI) supervisory courses that included problem solving skills. Subsequently, he ran other management and supervisory courses that included problem solving.
