Your value DOES depend on how others see you! (Robert W. Bly)

A post I just stumbled across on Facebook said: “Your value does not decrease because of other people’s inability to see it.”

That’s a pleasant platitude.

Unfortunately, it’s at least partially wrong.

The truth is that, yes, your INTRINSIC value does not decrease because of other people’s inability to see it.

However, when others either can’t see — or are unaware of — your true value, then your DOLLAR VALUE in the marketplace suffers.

When people — whether customers, members, students, or employers — do not know what you are worth, they won’t pay you what you are worth.

Here are 3 proven ways to combat this — and make sure people know how great you are — so you get paid a fair wage for a fair day’s labor:

FIRST, tell potential customers what you are worth — advertise.

SECOND, let the media tell your potential customers what you are worth — PR.

THIRD, give great customer service, make a great product, and do great work for your clients — and get the message spread through word of mouth.

Yes, there are others ways to get known.

But if you just do these, you’ll be set.
